Mission
The mission of The Hite of Communications is to provide high-quality workshops and seminars to teach corporate employees and educators how to be more effective communicators and leaders.

The company seeks to provide 100% customer satisfaction through educating clients on the importance and financial benefit of improving their communications skills and changing their paradigm from managing to leading. The company's principal officers see each contract as an agreement not between a business and its customers, but between partners that wish to create a close and mutually beneficial long-term relationship.

Philosophy

Leadership – Unless you are working alone in research department or lab, your success is directly tied to how you interact with others. A manager cannot achieve his/her goals without his/her team achieving theirs. The most effective way for everyone to reach their goals is for the manager to lead and not manage. Projects can be managed. People are led. However, being in a leadership position does not make you a leader. True leaders show others how to be better employees and, more importantly, better people through deed, not voice. Equipping those that you lead with the ability to rise to their potential and then allowing them to do so, is what makes a great leader.

Communications – The formula for success is not complicated or elusive. It is simply being able to effectively communicate your ideas, needs and/or wants to others up, down and across your organization. How effective you are at doing this will dictate how effective you are at doing your job.

We have been taught most of our lives to be ineffective communicators. This very fact serves to complicate every relationship we have because we are unaware that we are not communicating effectively. The Hite of Communications provides you the insight needed to understand why we are not effective communicators and teaches you the tools to make your communications clear and concise.

Education – Tomorrow’s leaders and communicators will come from the classroom. It is important that educators stop being classroom managers and start being classroom leaders. Teachers set the tone of the class by how they interact with the students. Too frequently the interaction comes from a command and perspective and the teacher does not understand that educating the student is only part of the responsibility and it is not the most important part. The teacher’s most important roles in the classroom are as guide, motivator and mentor.

About the Founder/CEO

Norris Hite, Jr., founder and CEO, The Hite of Communications, has used his more than 30 years experience as a journalist, educator, public speaker, manager, coach and mentor to create a company that focuses on teaching people how to accomplish two goals:

  • To improve their communications skills so that they can be more effective dealing with clients and employees.
  • To change their paradigm from managing people to leading them, which makes employees more productive and reduces turnover?

It was due to Hite's strong communications, management and leadership skills that he was selected to create a publications division for a national, non-profit association. He brought the association's flagship publication in-house and developed two national start-up publications. He was also served as the senior consultant on a host of other projects, including the establishment of two magazines; and led the effort to bring in-house the flagship publication of a government agency. Additionally, his strong reputation as a leader and communicator was the reason for a local charter school to ask him to serve as the school's vice principal during a critical time during the school's inaugural year. This led to a relationship between Hite and school that saw him serve the school in a variety of positions aiding the school's various administrations.
